STUDENTS’ MEET: PAST (1977 -80) AND PRESENT

ATTENDANCE TAKEN AFTER THIRTY ONE YEARS

The Department of Mathematics of Yadava College, Madurai, organized a meeting PAST AND PRESENT on 27th August 2010 wherein the students of Mathematics of the 1977-80 Batch interacted with the present students. The students of that Batch who are now settled all over the world had assembled on that special occasion. Students who had come from as far as from Singapore shared their nostalgic reminiscences in a very emotional yet humorous way. Former Professors of the Department who had retired from their service also graced the occasion.

The meeting commenced with Tamil Thai Vazhthu. Ms.Ramya of the III B Sc Maths welcomed the gathering. Prof.M.Subbiah Doss, presently the Head, Department of Mathematics after delivering the Presidential address, took attendance of the batch with the same old roll numbers. Except for 3 students and one Professor who are unfortunately no more in this world, all other students were present. Prof.Doss enumerated the family-like atmosphere that prevailed during those yesteryears. The students for their part shared their experiences. They were reminiscent of the commitment, dedication and discipline that were portrayed by the Professors of Mathematics. The students who all were first generation learners mostly hailed from rural areas. They recorded the fact that it was Yadava College and its committed Professors that gave them an honorable address and facelift to their lives. The students expressed their gratitude to their mentors for giving them fatherly support during their stay at Yadava College. For their part, they have assured an endowment for the development of the department.

Dr.A.Padmanabhan, Principal-in-Charge, Yadava College, Dr.V.C.S.Immanuel, Prof.G.Balasubramanian, Prof.K.Kannan, Director, Self-financing Courses, Dr.V.Gopal, Dean, Students Support, Dr.P.Alagesan, Coordinator, NACC & IQAC, and Prof.M.Alagappan, participated in the meeting.
