Researcher in Residence Programme
The Researchers in Residence programme is a new
initiative taken by Yadava College, Madurai to promote long term
contact among invited researcher and students and teachers in the
department. Researcher in Residence programme is being designed
as an ideal learning and career development tool for the youngsters
involved. The three day stay of a researcher in the campus will
make a difference to the outlook and work of several students and
teachers involved. Moreover, through this programme, the visiting
researcher conveys his background knowledge, attains trust and promotes
a unique bond with the department.
The Researcher in Residence talks about his research
work with students and faculty of the department. Hence, the emerging
research field in the subject is highlighted to the audience and
this will motivate the students’ and teacher’s interest in authentic
scientific research.
This programme offers several advantages to both
researcher and target group alike. The guest researcher enjoyed
sharing his academic enthusiasm and the break from the workbench
for a few hours per week for a new challenge. The contacts to be
developed between research centers and colleges may bring about
innovative research practice and an effective teaching of science
in the class rooms in the long run. The students involved in RinR
Programmes may develop enthusiasm and potential to progress into
higher science education. A ‘meaningful personal connection’ is
especially important to the students and their teacher, allowing
the researcher to serve as an effective role model through this
Researcher in Residence programme.
